OJS academic journal redesign for the Canadian Journal of Native Education
problem_

The existing CJNE journal suffered from fragmented UX, unclear editorial hierarchy, and limited readability across articles, issues, and submission flows. Built on OJS, the platform prioritized functionality over clarity, resulting in a complex and inconsistent user experience.

product
Homepage design of an academic journal in OJS with featured articles and journal navigation
Approach_

We conducted an in-depth discovery phase, analyzing the existing journal, OJS constraints, and comparable academic publishers.

From there, we defined a clear UX and editorial strategy, developed wireframes, and delivered a final UI system designed to be fully implemented within OJS.
